Weight Watchers

Weight Watchers is a commercial weight loss program. Participants follow a balanced low fat diet, and receive group counseling. According to a fixed Flex Points Plan, every item of food from pizza to ice cream to carrots to bread has points value based on its nutritional content. Dieters may eat whatever they prefer as long as you stay within the points, allotted to them. Each week they have 35 reserve points for unplanned activities or cravings. Weight Watchers get help in counting the points by a points "calculator" and special recipes. To receive support in their lifestyle changes all members are encouraged to attend group discussion and counseling sessions, mostly in person, at local Weight Watchers centers.

The program organizers try to convince overweight people that they can lose weight without sacrificing the foods they love. Portion size is controlled by allowing calorie intake from healthy food with very small portions of potentially unhealthy food. This strategy might give the dieter a false sense of the real nutritional changes they need to make in their lives for long-term success. Exercise is recommended but it's not a priority. Long-term group therapy may be harmful to self-reliance and self-discipline, so essential for long-term success.

Weight Watchers is more positive and reliable than pill pushers and unscrupulous "experts." The program costs around $45 dollars a month.

I love Weight Watchers! It is the safest weight loss program out there and it teaches you how to live a healthy life in the real world.

I have had good success on this program , recognizing that it took me a long time to gain the weight so need to be patient with it coming off. I like the plan because I can eat what I want and still lose weight. The program requires some planning ahead of time so that you eat within the points range but it has not been hard. There is even restaurant info available so you can plan ahead of time what you are going to eat. After following Atkins for some time it is nice to get back on board with a program that fits in my schedule and allows me to eat the foods I like. I recommend this program to anyone wanting to learn to adapt a healthy lifestyle!!!
